Rock Music Video Analysis

Image
Rock Music Video Analysis For the analysis I'll be choosing the music video from Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams which follows a punk rock genre as it does for most of their music. Overlooking the whole music video it consistently displays itself as looking quite 'grunge-like' as it uses really grey and dark tones thorough the colour key's, this combined with frequent visual effects of  this dirt scratched effect that's used in combination makes it look almost depressing. If we take away all audio we can see it's almost portraying the the world just moving around him leaving him behind and alone. Which if we tie this in with the audio it presents itself as a whole picture of him talking about being alone and walking the never-ending streets of New York.  Scenes within the music video represent this idea even further with him walking through many different places from the desert to random ruins and neighbour hoods generally all in fast succession showing ...

Conventions of Rock

Conventions of Rock   What is Rock? Rock is a broad genre of popular music that originated from the United States along with the United Kingdom within the similar timeframe of the 1950's - 1960's. Rock has evolved over many years and as a result has created many sub genres that many do not even know about. Finally it usually follows a main verse throughout.  What types of sub genres exist within Rock (and artists)? There is a vast variety of sub genre's of rock and they range vastly in style, for example you could go anywhere from Jazz-Rock to Heavy Metal which for obvious reasons sound vastly different. However there are many other variations such as Britpop, Indie Rock and Punk rock.   Britpop originated from the UK band 'The Beatles' and the type of music they made, this is one type of example of a s...

Initial Ideas

Image
Initial Ideas I intend to make a series of  two adverts for the brief of a food delivery app where both adverts last 15 seconds. The aim is to represent this brand as being comedic and the audience to perceive it as so. I'll use media language to do this including the use of soft selling where it's hinted at how the product may effect the consumer. The use of slogans can make the company memorable along with a logo which helps directly link the company to something visual and the use of minor parody can help the brand stand out as being self aware and being more relatable to the watcher of the advert. If the advert seems crazy of stands out of the normal which something like a food delivery app it will help to draw more attention to it. Conventions of TV adverts Marmite Advertisement End Marmite Neglect Marmite Advert 2013 - YouTube   - This advert uses a method of a soft sell and mode of address for the product and remind people they exist as it plays upon the fact they ...
